Simple Steps to Pass Any Azure Certification
A straightforward guide to help you prepare efficiently and effectively.
Preparing for an Azure certification can feel sometimes overwhelming. If you’ve ever found yourself lost in endless resources, unsure of where to start, you’re not alone. I used to overthink everything too, wasting time on inefficient methods that left me frustrated and nowhere near ready for the exam.
But over time, I implmented a simple, effective way to prepare that worked every single time, at least for me. Whether it’s AWS, CompTIA, or Azure certifications, I’ve always passed on the first try using this approach.
If you’re tired of overcomplicating things and want a reliable way to pass your Azure certification, here’s the 5-step method I swear by:
Pick a Learning Platform
The first step is to choose a video learning platform that aligns with your certification goals. You can go with free options like YouTube or FreeCodeCamp, but if you’re willing to invest a little, platforms like Udemy, A Cloud Guru, and Exam Pro are excellent.
Once you’ve picked your platform, start the course and give it your full attention. I recommend speeding up the videos to 1.5x or 2x — it forces you to stay focused, and if you zone out, rewinding takes far less time than watching everything at normal speed.
Also, don’t skip the hands-on lab exercises! They’re invaluable for learning how Azure works in real-world scenarios.
Take Notes at the Right Time
This step saved me so much time. Instead of writing notes throughout the course, focus on the chapter summary videos at the end of each module.
Why? Because these videos recap all the key points in one go. For example, if you’re learning about Azure Virtual Machines, wait for the summary at the end of that section to jot down your notes.
This method keeps you moving through the course quickly without constantly pausing and rewinding.
Practice with Mock Exams
Once you’ve finished the course, it’s time to test yourself. Find a set of mock exams from reputable vendors — many courses bundle practice tests, but you can also buy standalone sets if needed.
Using at least two different providers is a smart move. It exposes you to different question styles and ensures you’re ready for anything the real exam throws at you.
Identify Weak Spots and Revise
After completing a few mock exams, review your scores. What topics are you struggling with the most? Write these down and revisit your notes and videos on those areas.
This is where flashcards can be a game-changer. Using flashcards for active recall will help you commit the trickiest concepts to memory. Whether you’re waiting in line or have 10 minutes to spare, whip out your flashcards and drill those topics.
Book the Exam and Final Prep
Once you’re consistently scoring 85% or higher on practice tests, it’s time to book your exam.
In the weeks leading up to it, stick to the routine: review your notes, practice mock exams, and tackle any weak areas. By exam day, you’ll feel confident and fully prepared.
Final Thoughts
This 5-step method isn’t just about studying smarter — it’s about building confidence. Each time I’ve walked into an exam room, I knew I had done everything I could to prepare. That feeling is priceless.
So, if you’re gearing up for your Azure certification, give this approach a shot. I promise, with consistency and focus, you’ll pass on your first try and feel great doing it.
Good luck, and happy studying!
